October 14, 2026 — Idea Stage Accelerator (Cohort FA2026) · September 25, 2026 — Idea Stage Accelerator (Cohort FA2026)

StarterStudio is a nonprofit tech accelerator in Orlando, Florida that has supported more than 410 startups since 2015. Central Florida’s only 501(c)(3) organization focused on tech and tech-enabled founders, it runs three sequential stages rather than one fixed program: a six-week Idea Stage Accelerator to validate a problem and customer, a Build Stage Accelerator to develop an MVP and first paying customers, and a 13-week Pre-Seed Stage Accelerator to prepare for a venture-capital raise, with founders who complete it eligible for a $25,000 pre-seed investment. StarterStudio takes no equity in any company that joins, and donor, government and academic support means founders pay less than 20% of what it actually costs to deliver the programs. The organization has run 60 accelerator cohorts since inception and reports $1.6M invested in alumni companies to date. StarterStudio ranks 73rd on the 2026 TIME and Statista list of America’s Best Incubators and Accelerators.

Stages

Idea/Pre-Team, Pre-Seed

Eligibility

• Early-stage tech and tech-enabled founders, from idea stage through pre-seed
• Idea Stage: founders with an unvalidated or early-stage business idea seeking to identify a real customer problem
• Build Stage: founders who have validated their idea and understand their customer base, ready to build an MVP and acquire first customers
• Pre-Seed Stage: founders with early traction ready to pursue venture capital and pitch to investors
• Open to founders in Central Florida and beyond, with virtual and hybrid program delivery

Selection process

• Apply online for the relevant stage (Idea, Build or Pre-Seed) during its open application window
• Applications reviewed for fit with the stage’s readiness criteria (idea validation, MVP/traction, or investor-readiness)
• Accepted founders join a cohort for that stage’s fixed-length program
• Program concludes with a Demo Day, where Pre-Seed Stage founders pitch to community stakeholders and local investors

Benefits

• Idea Stage: startup methods and tools, customer discovery, a value proposition canvas, and market/competitor research to validate the business idea
• Build Stage: business model and go-to-market strategy development, MVP creation and testing, first customer and revenue, and company culture and operations planning
• Pre-Seed Stage: full risk assessment and mitigation planning, investor identification and communication, due diligence preparation, and a portfolio of pitches presented live at Demo Day
• Eligibility for a $25,000 pre-seed investment upon completing the Pre-Seed Stage Accelerator
• A collaborative network of tech entrepreneurs and expert coaches across all three stages
• Guidance from seasoned entrepreneurs who have helped more than 410 businesses get their start
• No equity taken at any stage, and a heavily subsidized program cost thanks to local government, academic institution, corporate and individual donor support

Network

Local government (Orange County Government, City of Orlando), academic institutions (University of Central Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, UF Innovate), corporate sponsors (SouthState Bank, Duke Energy, Florida CFO Group), and Florida High Tech Corridor. Board includes Jacques Fu (Stax Payments alumnus, now of PETE Learning) and other regional business and investment leaders. Alumni Network connects current founders with past program graduates.
