Greentown Labs is a nonprofit climatetech and energy incubator founded in 2011, with campuses in Somerville, Massachusetts and Houston, Texas. Startups join as members and rent desk, prototyping-lab, or wet-lab space instead of entering a fixed-length cohort, and Greentown takes no equity. The Somerville campus covers close to 100,000 square feet, including a 34,000 square foot prototyping lab, a machine shop, and a 26-bench wet lab, while the Houston campus offers 30,000 square feet in the Ion Innovation District. Members can draw on 110+ corporate and investor partners, an investor program, discounted software and legal services, and more than 350 members-only events each year. Alongside membership, Greentown runs Greentown Go, corporate-sponsored programs across five industry tracks, and the First Valley Fellowship, which gives early-stage founders six months of no-cost membership. Greentown has supported 700+ startups since 2011, with 260+ currently in the network, and its startups have raised more than $12.5B. It ranked No. 26 on TIME and Statista’s inaugural 2026 list of America’s Best Incubators and Accelerators.
