November 2026 — VILLAGEx 2027 cohort · November 6, 2026 — VILLAGEx 2027 cohort

The Idea Village is a New Orleans nonprofit that has supported more than 20,100 entrepreneurs since founders sketched the concept on a bar napkin in 2000. It runs two flagship accelerators along one pipeline: IDEAinstitute, a 12-week, hybrid idea-stage program teaching the Lean Startup Methodology and ending in a Pitch Night with non-dilutive prize money, and VILLAGEx, a four-month, in-person accelerator for seed-stage founders planning to raise $1M or more. IDEAinstitute alumni who are Black or founders of color can go on to IDEAfuel, a Regions Foundation-backed track adding $15,000 in non-dilutive funding and further mentorship. A Shell GameChanger-sponsored initiative periodically places a few IDEAinstitute founders in coastal restoration or marine biodiversity into a Fall cohort for Shell mentorship and a shot at a $150,000 prize. Neither IDEAinstitute nor VILLAGEx takes equity directly; a separately governed affiliated fund, the Momentum Fund ($7M, launched 2023), invests in select VILLAGEx alumni instead. The Idea Village also runs New Orleans Entrepreneur Week and belongs to the Morrow accelerator network, spanning 160+ locations worldwide. VILLAGEx alumni have collectively raised more than $500M, and 298 startups have gone through the program since inception. The Idea Village ranks 29th on the 2026 TIME and Statista list of America’s Best Incubators and Accelerators.
